The Ladybird Garden is all about bringing gardens to life, and keeping it that way. A viable garden depends on more than just having pots of money and lots of luck, and is possible regardless of the type of gardening you’re into.
Have you noticed? Gardening is becoming less about the best blooms and more about a sustainable environment- but a pretty one.
Therefore, gardening advice is no longer only about the correct way of pruning, when to sow a specific seed and the benefits of planting perennials (although there is still lots of that as well) but also about creating a sanctuary for all living creatures in an increasingly urbanized world.
Where is The Ladybird’s home?
I garden in the Gauteng province of South Africa, which means that I get lots of rain in summer and have some frost in winter. My greatest challenges are frost and very shallow soil. I’m also working toward creating greater diversity in my garden, and 2014 will be the year that I fix the watering problems that killed off most of the plants since we moved into our 50+ year old house.
Let me know what you’re doing to keep your garden alive, and follow The Ladybird Garden for advice and how-to’s to help you.
